Are you looking to head out on your first Muay Thai training trip to Thailand? Have you scoured the internet and become a little bit overwhelmed with the sheer amount of Muay Thai gyms in Thailand? Don't stress, We've got you covered with our article on the best Muay Thai gyms in Thailand.
The reality is, there's Muay Thai gyms all over Thailand and you won't struggle to find a decent quality gym where-ever you go, however, just because it's the home of Muay Thai it doesn't mean all the gyms in Thailand are amazing. I've been too plenty of gyms in Thailand that lack enthusiastic trainers or don't quite have the facilities to offer the experience that other gyms do.
Having said that, most gyms do offer a vastly superior experience than to anywhere else in the world. In Thailand you'll train twice a day with access to some of the best coaches and sparring partners in the world.
Where should I go to train in Thailand?
The first thing you should start thinking about before you decide on which gym you want to train at is where exactly should you train in Thailand. Depending on what area you decide to head too will depend on the type of experience you have training in Muay Thai.
There are three main areas that you should look at when training in Thailand, and each one will offer a very different experience. The three main areas are Bangkok, the north of Thailand and the south of Thailand, below we go into more detail about each area.
Bangkok
Bangkok has the most prestigious and most successful Muay Thai camps in Thailand. This is due to the fact that the biggest stadiums are in Bangkok and more money is available in the capital of Thailand which brings in the biggest and best fighters to train and fight in the capital.
If your only interested in spending your time in the gym then Bangkok is the place for you. The city itself is well within the hustle and bustle of Thailand and you won't be heading to the beach on your days off but you'll be getting amazing training with the best in the business.
The north of Thailand
The north of Thailand is naturally poorer than the other areas of Thailand and is mostly amassed of thickly forested mountains and farming villages. The north of Thailand is often home to the brightest young talents in Muay Thai who use the sport as a means of removing themselves from poverty and provide for their families before they move to Bangkok for the big money fights.
If your not too worried about heading to the beach, but want great scenery, excellent food and an authentic experience in Thailand then the north of Thailand is perfect for you.
The north of Thailand will see you visit places like Chang Mai, Lampang and Buriram.
The south of Thailand
The south of Thailand is the most popular place for tourists due to stunning beaches and beautiful islands. If your looking for good training and plenty to do outside of the gym then the south of Thailand is for you.
